SMT Joinery & Property Maintenance

Privacy policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

This policy explains what happens to the information you give us through this website. We have kept it short and in plain English.

Who runs this website

This website is run by SMT Joinery & Property Maintenance, Leeds (Moortown, LS17). You can email us at james@tarkawebdesign.com. Our current contact details are always on our contact page.

What we collect and why

When you send us a message

If you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, your phone number if you give it, and your message. The message is stored on this website and emailed to us so that we can reply to you. We keep it until we delete it.

When you book a measure-up or a start date

If you book through our booking page, we receive your name, email address and phone number, the date and time you chose, what you booked and any notes you add. This is stored on this website and emailed to us, and a confirmation is emailed to you, so that we can arrange the visit or the work. We keep it until we delete it.

If you pay a deposit, you pay on Stripe’s secure checkout page. Your card details go to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us or by this website. We are told that the payment has been made and how much it was for. Stripe’s own privacy policy covers what it does with your details.

We use what you send us only to deal with your enquiry or booking and the work that follows from it. We do not sell it or pass it to anyone for marketing.

Who looks after the website

This website is hosted for us in the United Kingdom by British Web Design, who process the information above on our behalf and deliver the website’s email. They do not use it for anything else.

Cookies

The website sets two cookies that every visitor needs: a session cookie, which lets the website remember you from one page to the next (for example while you fill in a form or a booking), and a security cookie, which protects the forms against misuse. Neither is used to track you.

We count visits to the website without cookies, so those figures do not identify you.

If we ever switch on Google Analytics or advertising tags, a banner will ask you first, and nothing from them is set until you accept. Your answer is remembered in your browser so you are not asked on every page.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR) you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, and object to how we use it. To do any of these, email us at the address above.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.

Staging

This is your staging site — it is not your live website. Changes land here first so you can check them before the public sees them.
