Alcove cupboards
Cupboards below and shelves above, built into the recesses either side of your chimney breast.
Alcove cupboards
Using the space either side of the chimney breast
Alcoves are rarely square, and almost never the same width as each other. Fitted alcove units are scribed to the walls and the floor, so there are no gaps down the sides and no wobble on the shelves.
A common layout is a cupboard at the bottom with a top at sideboard height and open shelves above, but it is your room. We can build in space for the television, a desk, a drinks cupboard or full-height doors.
- Base cupboards with shelves above
- Shaker, flat or panelled doors
- Doors and tops in the finish you choose
- Room for the TV, books, records or games
Questions
What people ask
My alcoves are different sizes. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Each side is measured and made on its own, and the two are planned so they look like a pair when they are done.
Can you work around sockets, pipes or a radiator?
Usually, yes. Point them out at the measure-up and we will plan around them, with cut-outs or access panels where they are needed.
What does an alcove unit cost?
It depends on the size, the number of doors and shelves, and the finish, so we price each one after measuring up. Our guide to alcove cupboard prices explains what makes the difference.
